Guided mountain hike in the Senales Valley from the Vernago Lake to the Koflhöfe farm. (in the footsteps of the famous "Iceman" nicknamed "Frozen Fritz"
We travel by train to Naturno/Naturns and from there by bus to the Val Senales/Schnals Valley as far as Vernago/Vernagt.
Today's hike begins at Vernago lake. From there we climb up the Tisen valley to the Tisenhof and Raffeinhof farms. Both farms are centuries old and are a sight for sore eyes because of their location and architectural style. More than 5300 years ago, the world-famous "Ötzi" ascended here to reach today's Ötztal valley. On the glacier crossing (3,200 m) he was murdered by an arrow shot. This is the first recorded criminal case. At Raffeinhof, we turn sharply left to reach the Finailhof farm, where we stop for refreshments. We reach the farm in a steady up and down, enjoying the magnificent panorama over the lake and the mountain landscape surrounding it. Like the two previously mentioned farms, this farmstead is an outstanding example of local traditional architecture. The Finailhof dates back to the 15th century and was built in wooden blocks from larch wood. Culinary delicacies are served in the painted bar/restaurant or on the panoramic balcony. Until 60 years ago, this property was the highest farm in Europe. Arriving here we have completed about half of the planned route. On the last section, which takes us towards the end of the valley, we enjoy the view of the Weißkugel, a mighty glacier massif that is justifiably called the "King of the Ötztal Alps"
