Music Weeks Merano

August and Sptember

The Merano Music Weeks have been drawing the crowds for more than 20 years, providing them with the best of classical music from around the world in the breathtaking atmosphere of the Kursaal.

The symphonic section will once again feature a prominent cast. Top performers will appear in Merano, such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra London under Pinchas Zukerman and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under Yuri Temirkanov. But the Merano Music Festival is also a multidisciplinary festival.

There is a nighttime concert (this year with the singer Noa), crossover projects (“Colours of Music”), and – for the first time in 2001 – the “Vox Humana” series devoted to vocal music. In addition, actor Bruno Ganz will read texts by Rilke, Hesse, Goethe, Eichendorff, and Andersen in a matineé classique with the Delian::Quartet. Venues of the “südtirol classic festival” include the Kursaal with its unique acoustics, the splendid Pavillon des Fleurs, the Stadttheater municipal theater – a gem of the Art Nouveau architecture of the nineteenth century – and the Rittersaal [Knight’s Hall] in Tyrol Castle.
