Hausbacher Hof
Fresh vegetables from our local hill
We love fresh, local produce. So we were delighted when Christa and Markus from the nearby "Hausbacher Hof" got in touch with us in April to tell us this: They’d like to take over Christa’s family’s farm and convert it to vegetable growing.
When they asked if they could set up the vegetable patch for us and if we’d take their entire first harvest, we were all for it.

Farmers instead of delivery vans:
Sure, we could try to manage everything ourselves. But to be honest: we like to surround ourselves with lots of great people and involve them here. That’s how it works with our taxi collection service run by Helmuth from Rabland, with our colourful team of fitness coaches, sauna masters and yogis from Rabland and the surrounding area, with our tradespeople – and especially with the farmers who supply us from their barns, meadows and mountain slopes.
And so, following on from the wines from the Moarhof, Stachlburg & Isser in Partschins, honey from beekeeper Christian Kessler in Partschins, Hubert’s eggs from the Rabensteiner Hof, and meat from Manuel at the Oberbrunn Hof – to name but a few – the vegetables from Christa and Markus also find their way into our little hotel.
And that’s exactly what makes our hearts beat a little faster every time: step by step, we’re saying goodbye to the wholesaler and sourcing our produce directly from the farm next door. Why not everything at once? Well, that requires producers like Christa and Markus – and fortunately, there have been more and more of them over the last few years. And anyone who wants to follow in their footsteps is welcome to come to us. Of course, not everything is always available or flawless – but that’s precisely what makes the difference. Suddenly, every food item takes on a different value. There’s someone putting their heart and soul into it, and you can taste the good things nature has produced here – or sometimes, what she has generously left behind.
It feels good, too: with every shop, we’re showing local farmers a bit of appreciation and adding value – and we’re learning once again to hold a cucumber or a tomato in our hands with a little more reverence. And because we’re as proud as a cockerel in the autumn breeze right now: the first deliveries have arrived! A few turkeys, fragrant flowers and autumnal vegetables will follow – and that’s just the beginning. The farm-to-table route is now open, and it’s certainly not going to get any less busy.
